launch points

The only launch point is at the Tofino municipal kayak launch at the end of First Street, next to the government dock.

Parking in Tofino

There is long term paid parking in Tofino for up to two (2) weeks.  If you are going to be out for longer than that (and probably longer than one week) it is best to contact Tofino Bylaw Enforcement.  Provide them with information on the dates, vehicles so they can give you parking options.  Email:  bylaw@tofino.ca, Phone: 250-266-1674,  Website: tofino.ca/bylaw-enforcement.

on the water

Paddlers can choose to paddle in the interior, more protected portions of Clayoquot Sound or on the outer open coastal areas that are exposed to swell and surf. The narrow channel connecting the west coast with Hidden Cove requires a minimum of 7.9 ft of tide level. Rafael Point has no place to land and can have treacherous conditions while going around.  Be prepared to have to wait a day or two for more favorable conditions before attempting to go around this point.
