City of Rocks

A National Reserve and climbing mecca that's off the beaten path and located in southern Idaho. City of Rocks is known for its variety of moderate to challenging rock climbing routes and unique granite formations. Many climbs offer a mix of bolted and traditional protection.

Getting there

From Seattle, drive I-90 and then I-84 east to Boise. Once through Boise, take Exit 216 (Declo) and drive south on State Highway 77 through Declo and Albion. At the Conner Creek Junction, a T intersection at a stop sign, turn right and drive west, continuing through Elba and Almo. The road leading to City of Rocks is to the right just after passing the park’s visitor center in Almo.

Camping

Camping is permitted in City of Rocks developed sites. Reservations are recommended and can be made on ReserveAmerica.com.
