Central Oregon Coast Range

The Central Oregon Coast Range is a rugged, forested region ideal for hiking, bikepacking, and gravel riding, stretching from the Salmon River (near Lincoln City) south to the Umpqua River (near Reedsport). It features the 60-mile Corvallis-to-the-Sea (C2C) Trail, a key route linking inland valleys to the coast near Ona Beach, with connections to forest roads and trails for multi-day loops.

This mountain system offers a mix of official trails, forest roads, and gravel routes perfect for loop trips combining the C2C Trail, coastal roads, and backcountry paths. Adventurers often ride from Corvallis to the coast, travel south along Highway 101 or the Oregon Coast Trail, and return through mountain valleys like Alsea or Yachats using dispersed camping and route-finding. While beach access allows for hiking and fat biking in sections, much of the terrain relies on remote roads through the Siuslaw National Forest, providing a scenic, solitary experience amid dense forests, ridgelines, and watersheds. This region—the Central Oregon Coast Range, bounded by the Salmon River to the north and Umpqua River to the south—is distinct from "Central Oregon," the high desert region east of the Cascades.
