Buell & Barrier Peaks

A scenic and moderate scramble of two peaks approached from the Deer Creek Trailhead off of Highway 123 on the east side of Mount Rainier National Park.

getting there

From Enumclaw drive US-410 to US-123.  Take the right fork and continue south on US-123. Reach the Deer Creek Trailhead in about 6 miles.

Notes

  • This is a shorter approach than from the Owyhigh Lakes Trail.
  • A traverse with car shuttle is also an option. 
  • Buell Peak is lower (5,761 ft) and the easier scramble of these two peaks.
  • This is a snow scramble early season and a rock scramble later in season.
