Buck Mountain/Elbo Creek
Buck Mountain/Elbo Creek is a moderate, 6 mile in-and-out day hike with 2,000 ft in elevation gain. The trail switchbacks up through forest on a ridge next to Elbo Creek.
Located on Buck Mountain Road aka Rocky Point Road aka Forest Road 2767, the Elbo Creek Trail is one of the abandoned trails to the summit up of Buck Mountain. The trail provides for a quiet hike up long switchbacks that open to the northeast to provide an occasional view of Mount Walker. In the end, the last 400 ft elevation gained are off trail and and are to a ridge looking southeast at the Hood Canal. Elbo Creek is directly across Hwy 101 from Mount Walker in the Quilcene area.
