Barometer Mountain
Off trail scramble of approximately 7 miles and 1600' elevation gain. Rarely done peak with 1000' prominence offering a test of bushwacking skills.
Take the chain lakes trail to the west end of Hayes Lake. (Distance and elevation listed assumes starting at the Artist Point parking lot). From the trail, go off trail to the west to gain the southeast ridge of Barometer. Follow this to the south ridge, where a boot path may exist. Follow the boot path to the summit.
