Bannock Mountain
A long and challenging gem of a scramble of into a remote and rarely visited area. Located beyond the Canyon Lakes and Totem Pass in the Glacier Peak Wilderness, perfect solitude awaits. Enjoy fantastic views of Dome Peak, Sinister Peak, and Agnes Mountain. It's 32 miles round trip with 10,000+ feet of elevation gain.
getting there
Drive SR-530 to the east side of the Sauk River Bridge just north of Darrington. Drive east on the Suiattle River Road (Forest Road 26) for 23 miles to the road's end and trailhead (1,600 ft).
notes
- The approach via Canyon Lake contours and crosses several large basins over a substantial distance.
- Because there is so much off trail travel, on average, only one or two parties make the summit each year.
