Auburn Downtown, Interurban Trail and Outlet Mall

The urban walks starts by the Court C entrance to the Auburn Outlet Mall. This entrance is on the west side of the mall close to the Regal Movie Theatre where there should be ample free parking. It is possible to walk around this indoor mall to use the restrooms and see the different stores as a part of this walk. Merchants include Eddie Bauer, Columbia, Nike and a food court.

Leaving the mall through Entrance C there is a path east to the Interurban Trail. Turning north this trail passes under SR18. Then at the intersection with Main Street the suggested route turns east along Main Street to cross the Union Pacific and then the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe railroads to reach Auburn Sounder Train Station. After a look at the station plaza, a short distance further east reaches the first of 13 sculptures in the Auburn Downtown Sculpture Gallery. Most of the sculptures  are located on sidewalks along or close to Main Street.

Additional places of interest that can be easily included in this walk are Auburn City Hall, the Postmark Center for the Arts (that was the original post office building), Auburn Justice Center and Auburn Hospital that has a cafe and restrooms, plus some interesting historical signs and murals. The return route follows Main Street back west to the Interurban Tail and then south to the outlet mall. 

All the route is flat. There is a road crossing outside the mall entrance and frequent street crossings in the Auburn downtown area to navigate.
