Starting from the new exciting Van Doreen's Landing Park we will walk north along the Green River Trail. We will take a diversion onto a lose rock trail through the Green River Natural Resources Area with an opportunity to climb an observation tower. We will then cross under S. 212th Street and continue up the Green River Trail to our turnaround point: The Three Friends Fishing Hole Park. After a break and restroom opportunity we will return south to the S. 212th bridge. Then we will cross single file and continue south down Frager Road. We will return to Van Doren's Landing Park by crossing the Green River on a pedestrian bridge and detour to the east to visit a second observation tower. At the park there are plenty of places to have a picnic lunch and there are restroom facilities.
The total distance out and back is about 5.25 miles with minimum elevation gain. I plan that the walk will be at a leisurely to moderate pace of 2-2.5mph average moving speed.
Please note: There was an earlier title to this walk that stated the destination was the Old Fishing Hole that’s south of our meeting place. Instead we are walking north to the Three Friends Fishing Hole Park.
There is an opportunity on this trip for a Mountaineer interested in becoming an Urban Walk Leader to be Assistant Leader. This position has been filled by Brad Peacock.
