We will walk a large and hilly loop around the neighborhood, which will include sidewalks, pedestrian bridges, paved paths, stairways, and a few sections of gravel paths and trails. Issaquah Highlands is surrounded by Grand Ridge Park and lies in the shadow of the Issaquah Alps. If the weather is conducive, we will have views of Tiger, Cougar, and Squak, as well as downtown Bellevue and Seattle, and over to the Olympics. We'll do a little birding along the way, so bring binoculars if you have them.
We will meet outside Cafe Ladro at 8:30am. There is a restroom available inside, as well as public restrooms at a nearby Safeway. Please find free, on-street parking nearby. There is also an open and free garage across the street, connected to the movie theater. Transit users can arrive at the Issaquah Highlands Park and Ride, which is 4 blocks away from Ladro.
Required Equipment
Water, snacks, appropriate outerwear, and sturdy shoes. Reflective clothing is great, and bring trekking poles if you like to use them.
