Trip
Urban Walk - Carkeek Park
Wildlife focused afternoon outing. Hike up/down and around park trail and few surrounding neighborhood streets. The hope is to see both spawning salmon and the beaver colony in Piper's Creek as dusk approaches. Expect some mud on the trails--6.2 mile loop, about 1000' gain.

Should be a fun walking tour of a great city park. We will cover pretty much the entire park and a few city streets. Any wildlife sightings will be a plus. Please bring a headlamp or flashlight for dusk walking. Considering bringing binoculars for beaver viewing. They are crepuscular and should be waking up at dusk and hopefully active. The abundance of salmon will depend on the tides. The total gain will be about 1000'. Please make sure you are comfortable with a lot of up and down hills and this much gain. This trip is weather dependent some light rain is fine. Rob
Here is the Gaia route proposed: https://www.gaiagps.com/public/5wi5OzqtU2SNgDVAtNA3yZhL/
Meet at the lower parking lot, near the beach access and bridge over the train-track at 1 PM Sunday. This lot may be full and you will need to continue on the one-way road to the next right to the bluff parking lot or straight ahead to the parking along the Meadows. You can also park in the first lot before the beach (that is above the beach lot) and walk down the stairs. Plan extra time to find a parking spot and get to the meet up spot at 1 PM. See this article that explains all the parking lots and issues. https://parkpreview.blog/2015/03/31/seattle-carkeek-park/#:~:text=There%20is%20a%20large%20grassy,sweeping%20view%20over%20Puget%20Sound.
