We will spend approximately 3 hours walking at a leisurely pace, stopping often to view and identify birds. Since we stop often and will stand for short periods, be sure to dress warmly and in layers to adjust as needed. It's a little cooler along the beach. I know I'll be scanning the water for some cool grebes, and I'd be over the moon if we see a loon!
We'll walk in a clockwise direction from the parking lot to the beach then walk around to the west side of the beach. We'll see what seagoing bird surprises we find along the beach. We'll walk the 160ft bluff slowly up the staircase to the wooded area to look for woodland birds, warblers, wrens, sparrows and others.
Please note there is a 160ft climb (stairs and trail) up the bluff from the beach to the woodland area. We'll climb at an easy pace and stop along our way to view birds and take a breather.
We'll meet at 8:00am at the south parking lot just north of the Vashon Ferry Terminal. The address is 4699 SW Cloverdale St, Seattle, WA 98136
There are two easily accessed bathrooms. We will stop at the first one we encounter along the beach not too far from the parking lot. There is another a little way north of the parking lot for those arriving early or you may want to stop at a location along the way to use the restroom before you arrive.
