Binoculars are a great help for birding. Also birding and flower ID apps will be useful.
meet up at 8:30 AM at Howard's Way rest area near Ellensburg. We will caravan there over Manashtash and around Umpanum Ridge with stops to bird and flower and then hike the road/trail up towards Umptanum Ridge. Expect a full day, since the drive is long and the experience compelling.
