Intermediate Alpine Climb - Mount Adams/Adams Glacier

2 Day climb of Mt. Adams, via the challenging Adams Glacier route. Highly dependent on weather and snow conditions.

  • Intermediate Ice Climb
  • Challenging
  • Elevation Gain: 7,700 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 12,276 ft
  • Pace: 1.1-2.2
The objectives for the climb  are:
  • Have fun and enjoy each other's company.
  • Make for the summit, conditions permitting.
  • Return to the trailhead safe and sound.
On this trip we expect to move continuously as a group at a moderately steady pace with at least one 5 minute rest break every hour/1,000 feet of elevation gain until we reach our destination where we'll have a 15-20 minute rest break for lunch, before returning to the trailhead.  Leader will provide access to a trip planning document for the confirmed roster and those on the waitlist for group gear assignments.  A "Welcome Climbers" confirming email will be issued to the roster no less than 72 hours before the activity with finalized details.

Drive  SR 12 and drive (17 miles east of Morton) to Randle. Register at the Randle Ranger Station and then drive south on Forest Road 23 for 32 miles. Turn left on Forest Road 2329 and drive 5.7 miles to the Killen Creek trailhead, ~3 mi from Taklakh Lake (4,584 ft).  Final travel and carpooling arrangements TBD.
