Hike the Alps of Western Austria, 7/28/2019 - 8/10/2019 TRIP AGREEMENT Please complete this trip agreement. By choosing "Yes" to the items below I certify that I have read, understood and agreed to the following information and trip requirements. = required field Name Email Route I understand that this trip is a mix of moderate and strenuous hiking. It requires excellent aerobic conditioning and balance which are suitable for traveling 6-10 miles per day on sometimes very rugged terrain. This may include steep scree or rocky ascents and descents that may require some use of the hands, stream crossings, short sections of snow, and some moderate exposure. I understand that in two or three places of moderate exposure there will be short sections of cables (metal handlines) to use. I certify that I will be prepared with the experience, skills, conditioning, and gear needed for the trip. Mini-Trek I understand that there is a mini-trek of four days and three nights near the end of the trip. On this mini-trek I must provide and carry my own pack with a sleepsack or sleeping bag liner, clothing, water, and personal gear. Preparedness I understand that I am responsible for being in condition to hike multiple days, and that I may take a rest day in town instead of hiking. I understand that some hikes have been planned based on traveling at an average pace of 1.5 miles per hour (including breaks but not lunch). Elevation I understand that this trip requires the ability to travel at elevations of 7,000 to 9,100 feet and on the mini-trek I will overnight at elevations of 6,500 to 8,200 feet. Accommodations I understand that the sleeping accommodations may vary. I understand that the huts have dormitory-style, co-ed sleeping, and that accommodations for hotels and mountain inns will be for two people per room but may not always have double beds for couples. Food I understand that the variety of food available and the ability to meet special dietary preferences may be limited or lacking. I understand that all breakfast and all but one dinner will be covered by the trip price and provided at hotels, mountain inns, and huts. All lunches, one dinner, and all drinks are at my expense and will occur at restaurants, huts, or guest houses, or as lunches packed and consumed along the trail. Team Work I understand that this is a group trip and that participants will look out for and support each other on the trail. Pace, daily start-end times, route and side trips will be driven by the needs of the group and conditions on the ground. Leadership I understand that safety and well-being of participants comes first and the itinerary and route may change without prior notice based on conditions. While participant input will be valued, the Mountaineers trip leader will be the ultimate decision maker. Responsibility I understand that the Mountaineers trip leader is not a guide and that I am responsible to know the route and where I am along the way at all times. Behavior I commit to behave during the trip in a careful and safe manner, to communicate to the leader promptly about any illness or injury, and to put my health and safety and that of my fellow group members first even if this means having to turn around or exit the trip early. Travel Documents I understand that I will be required to hold up to date travel documents and international medical insurance and emergency evacuation insurance for the trip, at my own expense. The evacuation insurance should be sufficient to get me back to the hospital of my choice in the United States. Fitness and Medical Conditions I commit to providing a doctor’s certification of medical fitness if requested, and to disclose to the leader and outfitter in advance of the trip about any recent injuries, surgeries, allergies, medications or medical conditions that could impact me on the trip. Cancellation Fees I understand that there is a minimum $100 fee if I cancel, plus any non-refundable expenses incurred up to that point. If I choose to leave the trip early for any reason, any incremental costs or liabilities incurred after leaving the trip are my responsibility, and that trip cancellation/interruption insurance has been recommended to cover such costs. Any refunds will not be payable until after the trip. Participant Signature Please type your full legal name. Date Signed Name on Passport Please type your full name as it appears on your passport.
