LEADER NOTES 10/17:  Trip canceled due to adverse rainy/windy weather forecast Friday-Sunday.

Hike at leisurely pace for abundant photo opps.  Will hike partial to full loop each day, up to 6 miles/day.  Trekking poles advised for uneven or wet trail sections.  Bring umbrella for photo gear protection, if spotty rain forecast.  Trip will be canceled or postponed, if moderate to heavy rain during weekend hike days.

Saturday hike:  Canyon and Twin Falls trails from South Falls trailhead to North Falls trailhead, approx 5 miles one way including Upper North Falls loop. 

Sunday hike (2 choices, by group):  Canyon/Maple Ridge loop trails via South Falls, Lower South Falls, Silver Creek Canyon, 2.5-3.5 miles; OR Canyon trail via  North Falls to Lower North and/or Upper North Falls, 2.8-3.8 miles.

Arrange own accommodations - tent/car/RV camping and cabin/lodge facilities at Silver Falls or nearby campground, or lodging (Silverton, Mt. Angel).  See link to park on routes/places for Silver Falls camp/facilities reservations.  Leader is tent camping Friday & Saturday evening at Silver Falls State Park.  Please share campsite  fee if multiple occupants/vehicles at site.

Oregon State Park day use or annual permit required for each vehicle, or Silver Falls SP camping receipt.  If you're camping at the state park, you don't need a day-use parking permit. Just display your current state park camping receipt on your dashboard.

Option to hike nearby waterfall trails during weekend, or day prior/following the weekend.

 NOTE:  Leader expects to lead spring 2018 trip (during Apr-early June) and possibly winter 2017-2018 trip (during Dec-Feb) trips to Silver Falls State Park's Ten Falls trail.  Watch for upcoming dates!

 

 

 

 

UPDATED 10/14:

Saturday:  8:00am at South Falls day-use parking area, large lot closest to restrooms and lodge.  We'll shuttle 1 vehicle to North Falls day-use parking area.

Sunday:  8:00am.  trailhead TBD on Saturday, either South or North Falls.

Approx drive time from Portland/Vancouver (via I-205 or I-5):  1.5 hrs non-rush hrs, 2-3 hrs during rush hours
