Day Hike - Taylor Mountain
Enjoy Memorial Day morning by exploring some of the varied trails in King County's Taylor Forest including the Holder Ridge, Whiskey Still, and Boot Trails plus forest roads. These are trails shared by hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians. The terrain is varied with a mix or broad and narrow, clear and shaded, dirt and loose rock surfaces.

The extensive trail system at King County’s Taylor Mountain Forest is used by equestrians, hikers, and mountain bikers. This working forest is intended to demonstrate environmentally sound forest management, protect and restore ecological systems and provide passive recreational opportunities.
We will explore this forest, following a number of narrow trails including Holder Ridge and Nob (where we should get glimpse of Mt. Rainier on a clear day), Whiskey Still and Boot Trails plus wide forest tracks like Roads A and D. I plan we take the narrow trails first while they are likely less busy and the broader trails later to make a figure of “8” loop of just over 6 miles with about 750ft elevation gain. We will have drink/snack breaks along the way and I’m aiming for a 2 mph average moving speed.
HIKING UNDER COVID 19: All participants are requested to be fully vaccinated including booster shots where eligible.
