Day Hike - Saint Edward State Park

This will be a gentle conditioning hike at St. Edwards. Much of the hike will be rolling or flat, but we will incorporate the Seminary trail for some warm-up elevation, followed by the more aggressive Grotto trail down and S. Ridge trail back up.

St Edward's is a lovely spot where a hiker can both take a stroll and get some good elevation conditioning.    We'll do both--incorporating multiple trails around the park.     We'll head down the N. Beach trail to the Lake.   Then up the longer, but gentler incline of the Seminary Trail.    We'll then go back down the challenging Grotto Trail and up the rocky, rooty and steep N. Ridge trail.   After that, just a pleasant walk around the perimeter trails of the park to reach our mileage goal.  I'd recommend poles if you'd find them useful for the steeper sections of trail.   There are restrooms near the Lake and around the St. Edward's facilities.

I am a destination focused hiker, though am here to support you and your needs throughout the hike when it comes to clothing, food and separation needs.  Also, I love learning--so any insights you'd like to share along the hike are always welcome.   We are working on conditioning as part of this hike, but are here to support you along the journey!

Lastly, we'll head to Third Place Books in Mill Creek after our hike for lunch/snack and to enjoy each other's company.   So please bring an appropriate payment method if you'd like to join us.

This is a mentored hike with Shelly Dearmon as mentor.

We'll meet at the Trail Sign marking the N. Beach Trailhead.     Head all the way to the rear parking area--it's a circular drive.   I'll be driving a bright blue sedan and will have my trunk up for easy visibility.    This parking lot can get busy--so leave enough time to park and find us.   And bring your Discovery Pass.

PLEASE ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 8:15AM.   We will do brief introductions and hit the trail at 8:30.
