Day Hike - Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park

Easy winter hike along forest roads and trails in managed woods to make room for those Super Bowl snacks.

  • *Varies*, Easy, Easy/Moderate, Moderate
  • Easy
  • Mileage: 7.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 650 ft
  • Pace: 2 mph

Please be prepared for winter conditions and bring your trekking poles.  There are areas that could be muddy or slippery.   We will be following a route that allows social distancing (remember your face covering) and some pretty woodsy trail on the last 2.0 miles that avoids the families and late starters.

On a clear day there are peekaboos of Mt Rainier, Olympics, and Cascades/Glacier Peak...

We will be meeting at the main trailhead at 8:00 AM (referred to "Bayview" on map).  There is an occasionally maintained porto in the parking lot.   No passes are required for parking.

There is a drive thru espresso stop in Port Gamble that's usually open (in front of Butcher & Baker building); and later after the hike if you're going to be on the road, the General Store has coffee and sandwiches...
