Day Hike - Paradise

Enjoy the best of Mount Rainier at Paradise. By combining the High Lakes and Skyline Loop trails we will enjoy alpine lakes, waterfalls, gorgeous wildflowers and stunning views while staying on some of the less travelled trails around Paradise.

  • Mileage: 9.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,100 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 6,400 ft
  • Pace: 2.0 mph

The group will meet at 8:30 am at the Reflection Lakes parking area on Steven Canyon Road in Mt Rainier National Park.

Reflection Lakes Parking area: From the Nisqually Entrance to Mount Rainier National Park on Highway 706, proceed 15.6 miles on the Longmire-Paradise Road to the Stevens Canyon turnoff.  Turn right and follow Stevens Canyon Road 1.7 miles to the parking area along Reflection Lakes. Restrooms are available just inside the park at Longmire.

We will start the hike on the Wonderland trail following the High Lakes Loop before turning off to Narada Falls, from there we will climb to Paradise Inn and follow the lower section of the Skyline Loop trail before looping back on the Mazama Ridge trail to rejoin the High Lakes loop where we will finish with a side trip to Louise Lake.  The group will hike at a pace of about 2 miles per hour with stops for flower and view photos.  The group will need to stay together because of the many, many trail junctions – so faster hikers please add extra weight to your pack so that you can get a good workout without being frustrated by the 2.0 mph pace.

Additional trip details will be emailed to participants after registration closes on August 2nd.
