Day Hike - Lower Big Quilcene

*** Trip initially open to Spring Hiking Students. Trip will open for registration to all Mountaineers 7 to 10 days prior to the hike date. *** Let’s celebrate Mother Nature with a hike on Mother’s Day.

  • Easy/Moderate
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 10.7 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,142 ft
  • Pace: 2.0 - 2.5 MPH

This is an enjoyable river hike along mostly good trail with a few rocky spots.  We’ll hike out to the turn around point, stop for a longer lunch, and then hike back with a slightly different side trail part of the way back. Mileage & elevation are based on a pre-hike that I did earlier this year.

We’ll meet at the trailhead at 8:45am, ready to hike at 9am. If you’d like to carpool, meet at the Tacoma Narrows Park & Ride at 6:50am, departing promptly at 7am, probably taking a bio break at Starbucks on the way over. Parking is quite limited at the trailhead and a Northwest Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass is required. There is a vault toilet at the trailhead.
