Join me on a midweek hike to peer into the heart of the North Cascades and to explore the historic Hidden Lake Lookout.  We'll start in dense forest, climb through wildflower meadows, and reach the rocky slopes of Hidden Lake Peak before reaching our destination. We will return to our cars along the same route.  Please be at the trailhead by 8 am (give yourself plenty of time to get there) and ready to hike by 8:30.

We will meet at the Hidden Lake Trailhead, located at the end of Forest Road 1540, at 8:00 am Wednesday July 23. To access the trailhead, take U.S. Highway 20 to Marblemount, turn onto the Cascade River Road and proceed just short of 10 miles to the junction with FS 1540. The road should be signed for the Hidden Lake Trail. Drive FS 1540 for 4.5 miles to the road end and trailhead. Please note that this road is notoriously steep, rutted, and rocky, so give yourself plenty of time to arrive by 8 am. A higher clearance vehicle is recommended.  No parking pass is required.
