A wonderful hike thru an undeveloped, forested county park (or along gravel road), leading to the shoreline on the Hood Canal with views of the Olympics. Great for photography and naturalists. We will do a loop to enjoy as many trails as we can. Starting at the trailhead we will head down the Sawmill Trail to Margaret's Trail, head to the Beach House and enjoy some time at the water. We will check out the Ridge Trail and the Stump House (of which the photo for this activity is of). If time permits we can check out some of the Big Maple Trail and Bryce Creek before heading up the main access road to cars. Pack a snack to enjoy at the beach. I recently visited this park with a friend and saw heron and eagles. Maybe we will get lucky as well.
We will meet at the Guillemont Cove Trailhead sign at 9:00am. There is parking right across the street. Please be careful crossing the street. There are no bathrooms at this trailhead, but there is a porta-potty at the bottom of the hike near the stream.
Directions:
From Hwy 3, take Newberry Hill exit; travel to Seabeck Holly Road; turn right. Drive to Miami Beach Road; turn right - drive to "Y"; veer left onto Stavis Bay Road. Drive 4.5 miles to the entrance and parking lot.
