On the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge, this trail boasts stunning views and an amazing wildflower display from spring through summer.

We begin climbing through oak and pine forest to reach a viewpoint of the Columbia River, Wind Mountain, and the top of Dog Mountain and then continue to the site of a former fire lookout where we will have lunch.  Returning down the Augspurger Mountain Trail to make a loop hike.

Note:  There are some steep sections as well as poison oak to beware of.

Participants are responsible for their own transportation and lodging, It is a 3-4 hr drive from the Seattle area.

Leader will be camping at Beacon Rock State Park (#15).   Currently there are many sites open.

Possible Day 4 extension:  Leader is planning to explore Columbia Hills State Park on May 30 and sign up for the 9 am guided "She who watches" hike to pictographs.  CHtours - Friends of Gorge Area Parks  You are welcome to join me if you like!

My style:  I am adventurous, curious and love to be "awed" by Nature.  As a leader, I tend to the quieter side and my style is more relaxed.  While I love to hike, I am also willing to make space for picture-taking, flowers, critters, geology, culture and views along the way.   I value the journey as much as the destination and strive to foster hiking as a wholistic experience (body, soul, spirit).

Meet at the Dog Mountain Trailhead at 9am
