Day Hike - Dirty Harry's Balcony

After hours conditioning hike at a moderate pace

  • Moderate/Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 6.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,900 ft
  • Pace: 2 mph

4:45 PM at Trailhead

This trail has good views of the Snoqualmie Valley and McClellan Butte if the day is fine. We should be able to reach the official balcony for dinner. WTA says this one is reached by a short 10-foot scramble so you need to be comfortable with that. Bring a sack dinner. We will hike at a moderate pace (approx. 2 mph), our goal is to condition for summer hikes and finish in daylight. All hikers must be capable of that pace and carry a headlamp just in case.

"After Hours Conditioning Hike at a Moderate Pace" is not a series anyone joins. It is a label so people understand that our goal is to:

  • Condition for summer hiking - these are "real" hikes. If you do not have a pack with appropriate gear, you are not conditioning.
  • Our pace is moderate - about 2 mph (travel time). We have a time constraint in that we need to be back at the cars before dark. Sometimes we need to be back before a gate is locked, If you do not know if you can maintain that pace, please cancel and sign up for a morning hike. That way you can time yourself without getting an entire group's cars locked in overnight.
  • The hikes are after-hours. Please cancel and sign up for a day hike if you do not like to hike in the evening.

The hikes are open to all members for whom those goals are a good fit.
