This is one of the classic must-do bucket list hikes in the state, hiking up a mountainside in the heart of the North Cascades with craggy glacial peaks rising in all directions! This also features some of the best fall colors all the way up the ridge, as well as a great chance to see deer, mountain goats, and even black bears (I saw all last time I did this hike)!
We will hike all the way up to the end of the trail at the Sahale Glacier Camp at the top of Sahale Arm at over 7000 feet. And if we have time and energy, I would also really like to hike maybe 15-20 or so minutes south from Cascade Pass on the Ptarmigan Traverse Trail to enjoy more fall scenery and bump this hike up to 13-14 miles and 4k feet of gain. The more fall colors the better, right? And we are up there already so might as well get the most of it!
Here are trip reports that show the fall colors: https://bit.ly/2xdoDQD
