Come enjoy the many loops from the South Summit SnoPark of Loup Loup Pass. Located at an elevation of 4000', the snow will often be better than some of the Methow Trails located at lower elevations, and animal tracks are often evident in our travels. We will aim for a range of green, blue, and black trails from the SnoPark, so this trip is not well-suited to novice skiers. Printing off a map prior is helpful, although many of the trail junctions will have maps there. While leader will be skiing on classic skin skis (most likely), skate skiers are also welcome, but please note that we will meet up at each trail junction, so be prepared to wait. I am aiming for a bigger trip as days are getting longer, and our opportunities for nordic skiing may be melting away. Tentative goal is to head south on the 9 trail (aka Road 41), but will revamp if many snowmobiles are using that shared route on the day of our trip. May also seek to ski on trails 11, 10, and Upper K-9. These trails will require comfort with skiing up and down hills, making sometimes tighter turns, wedge turns, herringbone, etc.
Trip is part of a recently developing Methow Mountaineers series, open to fulltime and parttime residents, as well as visitors who enjoy coming to this lovely valley.
8:30 at location in Twisp, where we will then optionally carpool to the SnoPark. SnoPark permit required for each car heading to the Pass.
