Trip

Beginner Snowshoe - Sun Top Lookout

Enjoy snowshoeing a broad forest road up to Suntop Saddle over looking the White River Valley. This trip will be paced for beginners. This is an opportunity for new snowshoers to improve technique and get some coaching.

  • Moderate/Strenuous
  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)
  • Mileage: 10.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,180 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 4,420 ft
  • Pace: Easy but aerobic

Olympia members meet at 6:30 am at Safeway, 4280 Martin Way E, Olympia, WA 98516. Parking in the van pool spaces. We will leave at 7am. Carpool gas $10.

Eastside members meet at 7:45 an at Farmers Park Park & Ride, Enumclaw, WA. Carpool gas $5.

I will need other drivers because we have a full trip. The driving is mostly on paved roads. There is a short forest road section. Drivers and vehicles need to be prepared for snow. A seasonal or one day groomed snopark pass is required to park at the trailhead.

We'll be on the trail from 9 am ish to 3 pm ish. Return time to Olympia can really vary, likely before 5 pm. I don't recommend making time sensitive commitments after the trip.  We may need more than one car.

Registration is by leader permission. Please email me letting me know if you are in the current Olympia basic snowshoe course or if you have similar experience.
