Longmire parking lot at 9:15am on Saturday, Feb 5th.

We'll start with a 2 mile, 600' gain snowshoe from Paradise to Mazama Ridge. We'll set up camp, explore the Mazama Ridge area as time/conditions allow, and enjoy a night of winter camping.  The next day, depending on snow/weather conditions, we'll either double back to Paradise (for a total of 4 miles and 1100' gain) or continue in a clockwise loop to Reflection Lakes and then Paradise (for a total of 6 miles and 1500' gain).

Route details: From the Paradise parking lot, we'll head down Valley Road, up the 4th Crossing Trail, and setup camp along the Mazama Ridge trail.  The next day, we'll either return via the same route, or we'll head south along the Mazama Ridge trail, continue west on the High Lakes trail, head down the Lower Lakes trail to Reflection Lakes, and then head back up to Paradise.

We'll trek at a moderate pace with brief stops for snacks/views. Participants should have a decent fitness base, given the weight of winter camping equipment as well as the trip's distance and elevation gain.  Participants must also have previous winter camping experience.

Weather forecast: National Weather Service

As this is a winter overnight, participants should be prepared for varied weather conditions and must bring winter-capable shelter, sleep / stove / water treatment systems, and clothing.

Chains need to be carried in all cars. Those driving front or rear wheel drive vehicles may be required to install chains before proceeding up to Paradise.

Proof of full COVID vaccination is required to participate.
