Backpack - Ipsut Creek Camp

Easy starter backpack to Ipsut Creek Camp

  • Easy
  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)
  • Mileage: 14.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,100 ft

TBD

This is an easy, shake down starter backpacking trip with priority given to this year's Olympia Backpacking Class students. It will be run under the Mountaineers COVID-19 Phase 3 guidelines. Maximum number of participants other than the leader is limited to 3, but no more than 2 households. There is a road washout just before the park entrance, so parking is along the edge of the road. The trail/old road is in good shape with one spot where the river has washed over the trail. It is easily crossed on logs. Ipsut Creek Camp is a former car camp. Sites have bear lockers for food storage and the restroom is operational.

This trip is organized to help current students of the Olympia Branch Essentials of Backpacking course complete their course requirements.  It is expected to fill quickly and a waitlist will not be maintained.
