Alpine Scramble - Foss Peak

Trip

Alpine Scramble - Foss Peak

Snow scramble in beautiful MRNP Tatoosh range targeted to new scramblers.

  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 4.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,000 ft

Depending on conditions, the status of Stevens Canyon Road, and group interest, the route may be an out-and-back or a point-to-point traverse with car shuttle.

Note that students from Seattle Pod A may be pre-registered. From May 18-May 21 scramble students who have not yet completed a snow scramble may register. Starting May 22, anyone else may register.

This scramble is oriented to new scramblers with plenty of opportunity to practice snow travel skills, including walking in balance on steep slopes, navigation, terrain evaluation, and if we’re lucky, glissading.

All participants will be expected to be actively engaged in navigation, trail breaking, and group decision-making.

Crampons and/or snowshoes may be required. Will assess closer to the trip date.

More details will be sent to registered participants a few days before the trip.

7:30am at Longmire. MRNP vehicle entry fee or America the Beautiful Pass required to enter the Park.
