Alpine Scramble - Copper Mountain, Iron Mountain & Pyramid Peak

One of the Rainier 100 peaks with in-your-face views of Tahoma herself.

  • Strenuous 5, Technical 3, Technical 1
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 17.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 6,500 ft

Meet at Kautz Creek Trailhead at 6 AM. Boots on and walking by 6:15.

Carpools can be arranged via email in the days leading up to the trip.

We'll ascend via Kautz Creek toward Indian Henry's

This will be a moderately-paced scramble, ascending 1000-1200'/hr with 5 minute breaks once per hour, and a slightly longer break at the summit. If we are efficient with this pace, we may be able to consider also summiting Copper, Iron, or Satulick. Doing them all would turn this trip from 16 miles and 5000' of gain to closer to 20 miles and 7000' of gain. Any way this trip goes, you should plan for a long day with lots of elevation gain.
