Rating S5-T2. Long, low-technical scramble near Panhandle Gap, one of the most scenic spots in Mt Rainier National Park.

  • Moderate, Strenuous 5, Technical 2
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 15.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,600 ft

5:30am, Wilburton Park & Ride, Bellevue.  (Otherwise known as "SE 8th Street exit".)  OR, 7:45am, Fryingpan Creek trailhead, Mt Rainier NP.

In late summer, Banshee Peak is essentially a long-distance off-trail "hike", but at this time of year, snow is expected near Panhandle Gap that would make for a "T2" snow scramble.

Annual Mt Rainier pass, America-the-Beautiful pass, or $15/vehicle entrance fee required.
