Alpine Scramble - Arthur Peak

Arthur Peak is fine, spring, summer, fall or winter

  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 10.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,700 ft

Meet at the South Renton Park and Ride at 6:30 AM. Meet at the south end of the lot right across Grady Way from the Mac Donald’s.

Tacoma or Olympia folks:  We can meet you either in Buckley or at the trailhead.

Arthur Peak is located in the NW corner of Mt Rainier National Park. To get to the trailhead we will ride bikes about 2 miles on a gentle gravel road, then hike up a trail a mile or so, then scramble up the hillside for a ways, then scramble along a long ridge to the summit. I have a couple extra bikes, so if you don’t have one, let me know and I can lend you one. If you have 2 bikes and can lend one to somebody else, let me know and I will put them in touch with you.

I expect that the round trip from the cars to be about 9 to 10 hours, so hopefully we will be back to Renton at about 7 PM

FYI:  I had previously scheduled this trip for Saturday 9/30, but when we got to the Carbon River Road it was closed due to "Police Activity".  We are hoping for better luck this time.
