Volunteer Support Tools

Volunteer Support Tools

Our Volunteer Support Tools are your go-to guide for navigating our website, standards, and policies so you can spend less time searching for processes and completing administrative tasks and more time fostering adventures.

Updated August 2025

The Volunteer Support tools are document-based AI assistants developed to support current and aspiring volunteer leaders across The Mountaineers. These tools are trained on official Mountaineers resources and policies and designed to streamline onboarding, trip/course management, committee leadership, and general volunteer support. These tools offer concise and non-technical guidance on using our website, managing rosters and events, leading activities, and locating forms and standards.

These tools support admin task management for volunteer leaders, promote consistency across branches, and ensure easier access to existing resources. They do not replace official decisions or staff consultation, and will redirect to appropriate channels when necessary. The Volunteer Support tools are accessed through OpenAi/ChatGPT's app.

tool guidelines & FAQ

As we bring new tools into The Mountaineers, it’s important that we not only learn how they function, but also understand when and why to use them. To help you get started confidently, we’ve outlined clear guidance on how to use these tools effectively, responsibly, and in alignment with our mission.

volunteer support tools faq

Use these tools for reference, not final decisions. These tools pull from trusted sources, but they may occasionally misunderstand a question or misinterpret a document. All final decisions should follow a review of the actual policy documents or consultation with The Mountaineers' staff. If you’re unsure, contact Member Services at info@mountaineers.org.

current resource pages

While we’re excited to explore what these new tools can offer, we recognize that not everyone may want to transition right away, or at all. Our existing Schedule & Manage and Leader Resource pages will remain in place, ensuring you can continue working in the way that feels most comfortable and effective for you.
