Day Hike - McLane Creek Nature Trail

Beautiful wildflowers don't bloom only in the summer. The PNW has a spectacular spring wildflower season. Join the Naturalist Committee of the Olympia Branch Mountaineers for a very leisurely paced evening walk exploring McLane Creek, looking for the spring wildflowers and appreciating the many birds that call it home. Adults and families are welcome.

We will meet at the picnic shelter by the trailhead at McLane Creek southwest of Olympia in Capital Forest; when you turn in to McLane Creek, pass by the first parking lot and go to the end of the road where the picnic shelter and trailhead is.  We will gather at 5:30 p.m. and begin hiking at 5:45 p.m.  Be sure to bring your Discover Pass to display in your car.

Come prepared for a nice evening walk at Mima Mounds.  In addition to the Ten Essentials, an extra layer to put on as it cools off will be appreciated.  Some of the trail may be muddy.  Feel free to bring field guides or identification aids, a magnifying glass, binoculars, and a camera as we take our time and enjoy the beauty of the Mounds.
