Trip Report

Alpine Scramble - Guye Peak/North Route

Led a fun group of 8 participants (included assistant Travis Prescott) up the north route of Guye on a warm summer evening with an amazing sunset.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Route was clear as a bell, no snow, no moisture, no issues. First section of Snoqualmie Mtn trail is steep, some minor route finding required to find the turn-off toward Guye, then a gradual climb toward the 30' summit scramble with room for 8 on the summit ledges.

I was hoping the finicky weather this season would give us a good sunset, and it really did! Guye is an ideal shorter, after-work trip to help scrambling students do a low-consequence, low-exposure scramble. We were able to help two students earn their graduation scramble. Everyone did well, there were no issues, everyone seemed to have a good experience. We were down by 8:30 with need for headlamps during the last 20 minutes. Highly recommended for the shorter distance and big sunset payoffs around this time of year.
