Meet at Marble Mountain Sno Park, where the traditional winter route begins, and we will hike in as a group to set up a winter campsite. Will coordinate specific time via e-mail as trip approaches. If the weather conditions look bad, we will either choose another location or reschedule
At Zero-dark-thirty, we'll do an alpine start, practicing the skills from the SIG Snow field trip. And since we are already at Mt. St. Helens and awake early, weather and snow conditions permitting we can head up and maybe catch the sunrise at the top.
This field trip will focus on introducing basic climbing class students to the basics of snow belays, snow anchors, crevasse rescue, traveling together on a rope, and snow camping.
Note- This trip is requires permits, so you will will incur an additional cost ($15), reimbursed to the leader. Please contact leader privately if this is a barrier.
McCarthy SIG students only until March 1, 2021.
