Trip Report

Day Hike - Capitol Hill to Queen Anne Hill Circuit

Great views, long staircases

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Easy to follow directions from the route listing. A few street crossings, mostly signaled and no busy arterials. Sidewalks, stairs or trails whenever needed (didn't have to walk in the street). Easy parking around Volunteer Park, and transit options.

We had a nice morning walk starting at the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery. Down the Howe St stairs to the Chesiahud Trail, then around the south part of the lake and up the Galer St stairs. Bhy Kracke Park is a nice spot for a snack, and the oldest stairs in Seattle are also nearby. Then we retraced our steps and climbed Capitol Hill using the Blaine St stairs, with a short stop at Streissguth Gardens. There are cool bits of history along the way, and great views. A nice option for an urban hike!
