Skagit River: Marblemount to Rockport

A mild and sunny day on opening day of the Bald Eagle Interpretive Center in Rockport. We saw very few eagles, about 2 dozen, and a gaggle of common mergansers.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The gauge at Rockport was reading 18.5 feet.  The 10.8 river miles took us almost exactly 2 hours. Our average speed was 4.6 mph, at a 13 min/mile pace.  Total time 2:20, not including shuttle.  We did not stop as it was such a casual float and there were very few birds. Most of the birds were in the first couple miles.

The chili potluck was the highlight!
