Ozette Ranger Station - more details forthcoming in an email the week before the trip.

This is an easy going, family friendly backpacking trip. That being said, spring on the Coast can be challenging and cold, so please pack for yourself and your child accordingly. Hopefully the weather cooperates, if not, we will cancel and re-schedule.

Bear Canisters are required on the Coast - they are available to borrow for free from the Olympic National Park Wilderness Information Center in Port Angeles or a Bearikade is rentable from https://wild-ideas.net/rent/

Water on the coast contains tannins, cryptosporidium and giardia, so a filter is a must (cannot use iodine). I plan on bringing Aquamira, but it takes several hours to purify Coast water as well as a filter.

There will be a $24 per adult wilderness permit fee that you can Venmo/Paypal me prior to the trip start date. For parking, you will also need either an Olympic Parks Pass or an America the Beautiful pass.

Trip Plan:

Thursday, April 13th - arrive at Ozette Ranger Station - hike in to South Sand Point - 3.84mi  - No fires at Sand Point, but there is a restroom.

Friday, April 14th - Hike from South Sand Point to Yellow Banks - 2mi - Can have beach fires at Yellow Banks, but no toilet. I plan on bringing s'more materials.

Saturday, April 15th - Stay at Yellow Banks - can explore

Sunday, April 16th -  hike back to cars - 5.84mi
