Discover the mosses, liverworts, and lichens that become prominent in the lowland forests during the wet winter months. This workshop provides a straightforward introduction on how to find and differentiate these organisms in the field. With hands-on guidance from an instructor and the course guidebook, you’ll learn the key features of up to 35 common mosses, several liverworts and more than 10 lichens. We’ll also look at the ecological roles they play in our forests, along the coast and in the mountains.
Please select one field trip and note the start time - listed in order as either 9 am, 11 am, or 1 pm.
