Hobuck Beach & Neah Bay

Trip

Sea Kayak - Cape Flattery & Tatoosh Island

This is part of the Surf Zone and Beyond activity. We will paddle from Hobuck Beach to Cape Flattery and hopefully paddle to Tatoosh Island, as well. SK V, 12 nm. Only experienced open coastal paddlers on this paddle!

  • Sea Kayak V
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 12.0 nm
  • Maximum Wind: 15 kts
  • Maximum Waves: 4 ft
  • Pace: 3.0 kts

MEET at Hobuck Beach at 9:00 am and we'll LAUNCH at 10:00 am.

Everyone that signs up for this paddle needs to ALSO sign up for the June 10 - 14 Sea Kayak -- Hobuck (ie, Surf Zone and Beyond) activity so we have a head count of everyone who's coming (even if you are just coming for part of it) and everyone must bring their ID and proof of vaccination to be admitted to the Makah Reservation.

Cape Flattery is a "bucket list" destination for kayakers and we are hoping that conditions will pan out for us to go there as planned.  This will involve going in and out of surf plus a fairly long stretch of open coastline with all that comes with those conditions.  But if we can make it, the payoff is spectacular!  We are hoping to be able to explore a few caves and also visit (but not stop at) Tatoosh Island.

All participants must be confident going in and out of surf and have strong rescue skills.

Dry suit, helmet and gloves required.

If the swell/surf is too high,  we will hope to do a different paddle in a more protected area.
