Day Hike - Mount Rose

A very fun trip through beautiful forest!

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • A bit of a late start yesterday around 10:45, but we missed the crowds and had the summit all to ourselves.  This was a 'bluebird day' with views all the way to St. Helens and Adams.  Not too cold, and no wind added to our enjoyment.  Still lots of snow, and we used microspikes beginning about half way to Horse Camp and all the way to the summit.  The snow is softening quickly though, beware of postholing and tree wells.

The final mile to the trailhead is completely melted out.  No AWD is needed, but watch for large potholes.  If the trailhead parking is full, additional parking is available along the road.  This was a gorgeous day with great camaraderie in our group with lots of talking, laughing, and getting to know each other.  Dinner in Hoodsport rounded out a very nice trip.  Thank you to Meryl Lipman for organizing it all!
