Alpine Scramble - Big Snow Mountain

Our everlasting summer we could see it fading fast

  • Road recommended for high clearance only
  • Mountain bike saves time on 7 miles of Middle Fork Road

Flagging and cairns helpful on fisherman's trail to Hardscrabble Lakes

Our everlasting summer we could see it fading fast
So we planned a three day scramble with some friends both new and past
But the clouds forecast for August weren't exactly what we planned
This 30% chance of showers I can't understand.
The views atop of Big Snow they are said to be sublime
But all I see are clouds and fog each time I make the climb
Up talus and cross granite blocks, to lead Tai was the man
The things that pass for vistas I can't understand
The rain in camp and through the night was steady but not hard
An exploratory scramble was just not in the cards
Wild Goat was near but now it's far, we shunned it to a man
A multi-peak outing?  I don't understand
We were dripping in our gear
Eating berries all the time
Crossing talus without fear
Still enjoying the climb

Very clever with the lyrics! That's my generation. Our party did some brushing on the Hardscrabble Lakes trail in Sep 2017. We lost the trail once, but refound it.
