South Mountain Preserve is Phoenix’s largest park and one of the largest metropolitan parks in the country. More than 70 miles of trails traverse this more than 16,000 preserve encompassing three small mountain ranges. South Mountain contains several petroglyphs and Fat Man’s Pass, a popular destination where you can trying squeeze through two large narrow boulders.
