Trail Emergency Preparedness for Hikers and Backpackers - 2016

First Aid Course

Trail Emergency Preparedness for Hikers and Backpackers

6:30-9PM, the Lake Hills Library. This evening seminar gives students basic skills and information to handle the most common emergency and first-aid situations encountered on trails.

This clinic was created at the request of hikers and backpackers as well as activity leaders who haven't been able to commit the time and money to complete the 20 hour Wilderness First Aid course, but still want a review of what should go in a first-aid kit and how to use it in common trail emergency situations. We will provide new and long-time hikers and backpackers with some basic skills and information to handle the most common first-aid situations encountered on trails: blisters, sprains, hypothermia, wound care, splints and slings as time permits. We will also review Mountaineers club protocols for responding to emergency situations.

2016 Backpacking Building Blocks students can attend this class free of charge, but to do so they need to register for the session that is offered within the B3 course.  To register for B3 and the included optional courses, go to  www.mountaineers.org/about/branches-committees/foothills-branch/committees/foothills-hiking-backpacking/foothills-backpacking-committee/course-templates/backpacking-building-blocks-b3-course/backpacking-building-blocks-b3-course-foothills-2016
