Sea Kayak Incident Management, Rescues and Towing - Deception Pass

Single day of Incident Management, including rescues and towing. We will cover a multitude of scenarios often encountered while paddling. Venue will be Bowman Bay; we will not be entering current.

Bowman Bay, Deception Pass State Park.  Be ready to paddle at 8 AM

One day on on-water and on-beach instruction regarding incident management and prevention.  Clinic will cover multiple self and assisted re-entries, use of short and long tow systems, and incident scenarios.  This clinic pairs nicely with the introduction to currents clinic in deception pass the following day.

Must be a mountaineers member.

Required Equipment

The mountaineers standard 10 essentials.

Sea Kayak with full perimeter deck lines and sealed front and rear hatches (flotation). 

Properly fitting Coast Guard approved PFD with attached whistle. 

Paddle that floats. 

Properly fitting spray skirt.

Dry suit with suitable thermal protection clothing.

 Helmet and Gloves. 

Spare clothes in dry bag, lunch and water, snacks for on-water, paddle float.
