This is an exposed hike so sun protection will be very important. We will follow Sourdough Ridge to the 5-way trail intersection where we take the Wonderland Trail to Skyscraper Pass, our destination.  This will be a new trip for me and if the group decides, we can continue on to Skyscraper Mountain, one of the 15 hiking peaks of Mt. Rainier.  Adding the peak will involve another 500 ft of elevation and 0.8 miles round trip for a total trip of  about 8.5 miles and 2,275 ft of elevation.  On the return trip we will loop back and descend past Shadow Lake and pickup the Sunrise Rim Trail where there are great views of the glaciers in the valley below.
