Seattle MAC - Drytooling - Exit 38/Drytool Crag

A drytooling trip to introduce MAC students to the art of mixed, water ice, and alpine ice climbing. This is an advanced trip with prerequisites. See leader's notes for details.

We'll meet at the Far Side Parking @ 9am. Day will wrap up around ~3pm at the trailhead for pickup. This is the trailhead for Dirty Harry's Balcony & Far Side crags. We will be climbing at the "Wayne's World" crag

This is an advanced trip. Prerequisites:

  • Confidence and ample experience leading at least 5.9 sport.
  • Experience glacier climbing and familiarity with ice axe use, as a base for learning to use ice tools
  • Ability to handle poor conditions - adequate layers & experience to stay warm in freezing/wet weather
